What Do Bloggers Do On A Daily Basis To Become Successful

Hello and welcome back to today’s lesson on What Do Bloggers Do On A Daily Basis To Become Successful? How much do you know about blogging?

Is blogging something you are looking to get into?

Does blogging seem like a way out of the job you don’t really enjoy doing?

Blogging for me started 12 month’s ago today. It’s an easy date to remember as it’s Mia’s birthday, she is our youngest granddaughter and she is 4 today!

Writing for the health and wellness niche in my first blog was a tough gig and I wasn’t able to give up the day job in that niche, however, with this niche, I have managed to quit the dreaded day job!

How was that achieved?

This post is going to answer the question of what bloggers do on a daily basis to become successful?

This blog post may contain affiliate links, which means if you make a purchase using one of the links I could make a small commission. The price you pay will not be affected.

What Is A Blog

Is a blog a website that sells everything from shoes, dresses, computers, and jewelry? it has written descriptions of the items for sale.

No that’s not a blog.

Blogs are websites with written and sometimes visual content that are designed to help the readers to answer questions and to educate them on one specific subject in each post.

Having a blog is also a way to sell products and courses, the majority of a blog contains written content and maybe a video as well as some hyperlinks to take the reader to another page.

The post you are looking at now is part of the blog Mistakes Bloggers Make.

Why I Started To Blog

Speaking to a lot of full-time bloggers they all had a different reason for beginning a blog but the most common were:

  1. Wanting to run their own business
  2. Not living paycheck to paycheck
  3. Being able to travel more
  4. The writing was their real passion
  5. Their time was their own to spend doing something they really enjoy
  6. Staying at home with the kids full-time

From the list above my top 2 were wanting to run my own business and having more financial freedom.

Having a successful blog allows you to work from anywhere, sometimes I sit in a cafe and write whilst having a coffee and a doughnut in the sun.

Blogging is a way for you to be able to stay at home with the kids instead of them being looked after by others, it can provide the funds you need to stop the awful commute to work in traffic when you are still half asleep and not really wanting to be there at all.

What Do Bloggers Do (My Job As A Full-Time Blogger)

There are 3 main steps that a blogger does daily more often than not:

  • Write pieces of content for the blog
  • Recommend products that they personally use on the blog
  • Sell the products they are recommending

Sounds simple right? There is a bit more to it than that!

  • Marketing either using paid or free methods on social media or search engines
  • Making sales
  • Dealing with customers
  • Researching for blog posts
  • Finances

Those 4 specifically are put into practice to keep the first 3 running smoothly.

Let’s dive in a little deeper into what else goes into blogging.

Bloggers Write Blog Posts (otherwise known as content)

The main task of a blogger is to write content in the form of blog posts, sometimes also called articles.

There are different thoughts on how many posts you should write in a week? some write one or two a week, some write every day.

Depending on what stage of blogging you are at as to what you should be doing.

A beginner should try to do at least 2 a week to help it to grow quicker.

An advanced blogger with hundreds of posts could get away with only writing 1 or 2 a month.

Platforms like Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram are more favourable to those that publish new content on a regular basis so the more consistent you can be the better it is for your blog growth.

Not sure what to write about?

There are many ways you can find the answer to that question, Using a search feature on Google or Pinterest is great for new ideas.

Using a keyword research tool will give you loads of options as well.

The thing to remember is that your writing of content is what makes the difference between a blog and a website.

Writing is the main job you will be doing consistently. It is possible to hire others to do this for you which is called outsourcing.

Either way, the content has to be written regularly!

The more valuable and free content that you can provide will help to establish a fabulous foundation for your blog.

If everything is free then how does the blog make money to give up the hated job?

marketing-strategies-

Affiliate Marketing

Blogs normally make money through Affiliate Marketing.

To make money you do not have to have any of your own products that’s what makes affiliate marketing so attractive as a method of earning money.

You are able to sell products that belong to companies like Amazon.

I will just give you an example of how this works:

Wealthy Affiliate is my number 1 recommended platform for hosting your website and blog.

I am also an affiliate for Wealthy Affiliate, the way it works is if you click the coloured link above and join WA as a free member you will become my referral.

If you then go on to upgrade your membership to a paid version then I would receive a commission.

The platform pays the money because I brought them a new customer to teach them how to become an affiliate marketer and blogger.

You don’t have to join any company I recommend that is your choice, however, I recommend the products that have worked successfully for me that earn money for this blog.

Only recommend products that you have either used or that you know have a good reputation.

Amazon Has an affiliates program where you can recommend anything that they sell on their website and earn a commission from the purchase.

The links that are given to you have a special tracking number that’s associated with your specific account so that you get credited with the commission.

This works even if the person doesn’t buy your recommendation, as long as they make a purchase you will still get credited with the sale.

Bloggers can and do make 6 figures a year and some even 6 figures a month from affiliate marketing!

The final step you should take to truly grow your blog and income.

Sell Your Products

The final way to earn a massive amount of income is to make and sell your own products.

What type of products can you sell?

Well, they can be physical or digital, this can be in the form of ebooks, printables, and training courses.

Selling a physical product can be very difficult to do. There are storage issues, packaging costs as well as dealing with returns.

For the purposes of giving away freebies in exchange for email addresses and for ease of getting the product to the customer, I would go down the digital route.

Making an ebook is on my to-do list for this month, I have the idea and the content already all I need to do now is get around to putting it all together.

This can be a very time-consuming process to go through that’s why it’s not been completed yet.

Many bloggers receive the majority of their income from digital products that they have made themselves in addition to the revenue from affiliate marketing and maybe some ad revenue.

I would always recommend that you begin with affiliate marketing because it’s a lot easier to learn and implement in addition to helping you to understand your target audience.

Is That All A Blogger Does Daily

When you are a blogger at the start it’s something you are going to be doing totally on your own so the tasks to be completed every day can vary greatly.

You don’t have the luxury that large companies have of employees to take some of the burdens from you.

As stated above the tasks will majoritively be centered around the 3 main ones of writing content, recommending products with affiliate links, and selling those products.

Other tasks bloggers do regularly:

  1. Writing emails to your list regularly
  2. Developing your own products to sell
  3. Researching new subjects for your blog posts
  4. Doing courses to increase your knowledge and education in your chosen blog niche
  5. Learning new strategies to put into practice
  6. Write blog posts to sell your affiliate products
  7. Write emails to sell affiliate products to your raving followers
  8. Creating landing pages for your products
  9. Creating sales pages
  10. Making a resources page
  11. Speaking to people that purchase your products
  12. Keeping an eye on how much you are spending on your blog
  13. Keep an eye on any money’s coming in
  14. Filling up a spreadsheet of your expenditure every month for tax return purposes so you can claim money back.

A lot of these tasks will only apply once you have been blogging for a while and some of them can totally be outsourced.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of bloggers who don’t really like to write so they hire writers to do the content for them.

I love to write so I can’t really ever see myself doing that part.

The most likely part for me to outsource would be the technical side to blogging for example the designing of the website.

Hiring a Virtual Assistant is another way of outsourcing, they usually do tasks like pinning pins to Pinterest and managing your social media accounts.

You will also need an accountant.

At the start of your journey, it is more important for you to do these tasks yourself because it is a brilliant way of learning the process.

In order for you to outsource you need to be able to explain exactly what you want to be completed and in the way you wish it to be carried out. That would be rather difficult if you don’t know how to do it yourself.

How To Get A Blog Started

If you are still here then you must be serious about learning about blogging!

In the first instance, you will need to decide what your niche is going to be about. The choice is normally based on what you feel most able to write or learn enough about.

Make sure the topic is able to be monetized.

There are thousands of successful blogs out there in all sorts of niches. what subject does your passion centre around?

Make sure to be yourself and don’t pretend to be something that you are not as your readers will know if you are being fake.

Choosing to write a lifestyle blog will give you many opportunities to write about different topics like parenting, finances, DIY, and saving money tips if you can’t figure out just one topic to focus on.

The blog will change as it grows and that’s okay, diversification is a great way to keep your readers interested.

Now, all you need to do is start your blog.
