When a company produces new items they send them out to get tested and in return, you give your feedback. You get to keep the product and in some cases, you can also get paid.

This website has been around since 2012 so that looks to be a promising sign.

Years ago when my children were young I used to do this and I got lots of baby products to test as well as washing powders and dishwasher tablets.

Now things have moved on a lot and if you are lucky you can test out new phones, computer consoles, games and other electronic products.

It takes quite a while to sign up to be a reviewer with Product Testing USA and it can be a frustrating process to go through. 

On the front page of the website, it says Reviewers Needed as you can see below:

That all looks promising until you realize after the sign-up process that you will only be able to test one product and that is if you ever get chosen.

From previous experience, I can tell you that is not a normal process. When I was a tester I got sent tons of things to try out!

After speaking to some friends who live in America who signed up they all had 1 thing in common to say. None of them ever got a product!

How Does Product Testing USA Work?

After going through the signup process you are now ready to choose a category from these below:

After choosing your category from the list you will need to sign up again and submit your details to be eligible to review a product.

If you get chosen they notify you by email and You will use the product and give a review of it, this can be carried out in 3 ways:

• You can write a review and it has to be a minimum of 500 words.
• Record a video of at least 1 minute in length
• Provide photos.

You get to keep whatever you have reviewed.

Part of the condition for signing up are you allow the platform to send you promotional emails and they can also come from their 3rd party partners.

Now the next part is where it becomes interesting but not in a good way.

The Questionaire

This questionnaire is going to ask you lots of questions about your background, some of the questions are not for the purpose you think they are.

What does what you do on social media have to do with testing an Ipad or some baby formula?

They require this information to sign you up for more and more products that you have not chosen to test.

The Products

I do not live in the US so for the purpose of this review I reached out to some of my friends who I know have signed up to this website.

Some had been a member for a month and others for up to 6 months.

They all said the same thing and that was none of them had ever been chosen to review anything and no products were forthcoming.

All of them expressed the fact that they were disappointed with never being chosen.

What are the chances of 10 people all choosing different categories and not being selected within 6 months?

What I Like About Product Testing USA

• The website is very easy to navigate
• Either having to write a review or make a short video is simple to do and taking photos is a doddle.

What I Don’t Like About Product Testing USA

• Only 1 user is chosen per product and that is not how most any other company of this type operates.
• The website has never been updated since it started 10 years ago.
• Your information is shared with other companies and the biggest complaint by far is that you start to receive spam emails, text messages, and phone calls.
• Not 1 person I know or after a few hours of research did I find anyone that has ever received any product to review.

Is Product Testing USA A Scam Website?

In my opinion, it does not give anybody a chance to test any products so that means it doesn’t provide what it says it will.

That is the definition of a scam.

It is free to join but the real cost is the information that you need to provide on the premise of testing free products and getting to keep them!

Being misled is not a way to gain trust from your users and that is exactly what this site is doing.

My advice is to not waste your time trying to get free items from this offer as it is only really likely to happen when there is a blue moon shining! 🙂
