Do You Know The Best Ways To Promote Your Affiliate Links

Hello, and a very warm welcome back. You have just started in affiliate marketing, you now know what an affiliate link is, but have you learned The Best Ways To Promote Your Affiliate Links Yet?

If you don’t know the best practices yet then you have come to the right post to learn!

As an experienced affiliate marketer, I have compiled a list of options for you to follow that work for not only me but millions of other new and experienced bloggers around the globe.

Just before we get into it, I’m going to cover what an affiliate link is?

Affiliate links are special URLs that contain the affiliate’s Identity or username.

These are used for tracking the traffic sent from the affiliate’s website to the merchant’s website.

Each affiliate has its own unique link that creates a cookie on the web visitor’s browser when clicked, this shows the merchant all of the clicks and purchases that came from that particular link.

Cookies can last anywhere from 24 hrs to 90 days depending on the affiliate program that you choose.

Once a sale is made you get paid!

On any page that you include affiliate links, you have to declare it.

In 2021, Google announced that all affiliate links now need a new tag ‘rel=sponsored’.

This tag notifies Google that this is an affiliate link that is being used.

This is how that can look:

This page contains affiliate links. If you click a link and make a purchase I will receive a commission. The price you pay will not be affected.

How To Promote Affiliate Links

Start A Blog

1. Start A Blog

Starting a blog is one of the easiest ways to promote affiliate links.

They can be included in the text of the blog post and they look natural in that format.

The links are generally a different coloured text and that makes them stand out better!

The best type of blog post to place affiliate links into is review posts.

This is because the person reading the review wishes to find out more about the offer before making a purchase.

Creating articles for your blog is one of the cheapest ways of promoting products that you wish visitors to purchase.

It’s a win, win situation the visitor gets the product or service they are looking for and you get paid!

2. Resources Page

There is one place on your website where you can place all of your affiliate links and that is the resources page.

The best practice here is to put a small description of the products that you actively use and a link to the program or product that it pertains to.

Note: If you have 20 affiliate links don’t overload the page and make it spammy just include the most important links.

Social Media Channels

3. Use Social Media

Using social media is another free way you can share your affiliate links within your blog posts.

Millions of visitors go to Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Linked In, and Pinterest every day of the week.

So you should take advantage of that fact and share your work.

Creating an account on social media is free to do.

For Twitter, you can have a personal account and a business account.

For Instagram create a personal account.

Linked In Has personal accounts.

Pinterest you should open a business account.

Facebook, here you have to have a personal account in order to open a business page where you will share your niche blog posts.

Another idea for Facebook is to join or create a group for bloggers and affiliate marketers that way you can all share beneficial tips.

Place your affiliate link in your bio on all of these social media platforms!

If you enjoy making videos then Youtube will become your primary marketing platform.

The affiliate link can be included in the description of each and every video as well as your bio!

4. Email Marketing

Email marketing is a very useful way to promote your affiliate links.

You can start out by giving your list helpful information, and then once you have built up a rapport with them then you can start to offer programs, products, or services as well.

An email list generally provides a return on investment on a 10 to 1 basis, so, for every $1 spent you can receive $10 back.

That is an exciting prospect, isn’t it?

Don’t send out too many emails that are promotional otherwise they will unsubscribe.

Create Your Own Tutorials

5. Make Tutorials

Making your own tutorials on how things work is another excellent way of including your affiliate links.

These can include blog posts as well as videos.

You can find tutorial videos on Youtube where people unwrap the box and go on to show you how a product works and they are extremely popular!

Maybe you can get some useful ideas from watching a few!

6. Use Affiliate Banners

There are many affiliate programs around that offer a tool kit for you to use and they generally include affiliate banners that you can place in strategic places on your website for instance:

1. Use the footer or header to embed the link into.

2. The sidebar whether left or right.

3. Add it to the body of your blog text using an embedded HTML code

Affiliate programs have a dedicated manager to help you if you get stuck, just reach out to that person.

7. Write Guest Posts

Some people just don’t have the time to create their own blog posts.

It takes a lot of work and it can be hard to get visitors in the beginning.

If this sounds like you, consider guest posting.

It is a great way to not only share affiliate links but also make friends and colleagues in your niche.

Doing this can expose your work and brand to a new audience and potential customers.

Depending on how long you have been blogging this can help you to get established.

New bloggers are always eager for free content for their blog and it will usually only cost them you promoting your work.

8. Write Evergreen Blog Posts

Evergreen content is popular all of the time as it is used to answer questions that people ask and that means it gains traffic all of the time.

Because of the ever-growing traffic, this is an ideal post to place your affiliate links into.

Don’t forget to link this content to some of your new blog posts so it remains high in the search engines as well as is accessible to your audience.

And keep it updated regularly.

Giveaways and Contests

9. Giveaways And Contests

People love to receive things for free and contests are a great way of getting your content shared and talked about.

Entice people by offering a giveaway like a voucher for amazon when they share your links.

You can let it run for a set period of time and then announce the winner at the end.

10. Promote A Webinar

You have the ability to do a live video or make a prerecorded one.

That will depend on how you feel about being on the camera.

So many people spend hours every day watching lives and videos so it is a great way to include affiliate links in your videos and in the descriptions as well as in the live chat.

One of the best ways to do this is when you find products that are on sale for a set period of time.

For instance, I got an email to say that Hostgator is having a sale on hosting from the 18th of October so I could make a short video to promote this and share it on my social media channels.

If somebody makes a purchase I will receive a commission and the buyer will receive reduced-priced hosting.

We both gain from this simple act!

11. Advertising Affiliate Links

This is the only method I’m going to mention that is paid.

There are a lot of people who pay for ads on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest as a way of promoting their affiliate links, they don’t send people straight to the item though, they go to a landing page with the affiliate link and a description that leads to the item, make sure to follow this practice so you don’t get banned from the social media sites.

Conclusion

Affiliate links are used by millions of marketers as a way to make money online.

There are so many ways of sharing them and I hope you find these tips useful in your marketing.

Fun Fact: Affiliate marketing makes up for 15% of all online creative content revenue which makes it a very lucrative job to be in.

  1. This post is really valuable to me as an affiliate marketer. Because I also sometimes have problems when promoting. You have given some real ideas in this post. I already do some of these. I already share on social media. But I never left a guest post. Do you know guest post sites? I must try it. Because I also want to get more traffic. Thank you so much for this post. Keep posting valuable posts like this. I will definitely be sharing this.

    • Guest posts can be found on many blogs where the blogger’s requirements are stated before applying.

Other ways to get guest posts are to ask on social media for opportunities and also in blogging groups.

      Thanks for the great comment.

      Have a brilliant week.

  2. Some great tips here Lisa for promoting your affiliate links. I like the website idea the best, but it is always a good idea to share your posts on your social media accounts as well. Websites are great because they grow over time and you end up getting organic traffic at the end which is free and you make sales on autopilot when you are not expecting it.

Of course, one must always be building your email list, as this is a resource that you can use time and time again. There is nothing better than waking up in the morning to some surprise commissions, and this is what we should all aim for in the end, a passive income that keeps growing so that we don’t spend our lives trading time for money.
